Boonton Township is a township in Morris County, New Jersey. The township’s population is estimated to be around 4,350 people. Boonton Township was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in 1867. The settlement from which it was derived had originally been called “Boone-Towne” in 1761 to honor the Colonial Governor Thomas Boone. To the south and southeast, Boonton Township is bordered by Mountain Lakes, Boonton, and Montville, all Morris County municipalities.
