Kinnelon is a borough located in Morris County, New Jersey. The borough’s population is estimated to be around 10,043 people. It was formed by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in 1922. Kinnelon’s name is derived from Francis S. Kinney who purchased 5,000 acres of land in the 1880s for an estate that included Lake Kinnelon, and built St. Hubert’s Chapel in 1886 on an island in the lake. The borough borders on Boonton Township, Butler, Lincoln Park, Montville, Pequannock Township, Riverdale and Rockaway Township in Morris County, and by West Milford in Passaic County.
