Washington Township is a township located in Morris County, New Jersey. According to the 2010 census, the township’s population is estimated to be around 18,533 people. Washington Township is in the western part of Morris County bordering on both Hunterdon and Warren counties. It is one of 6 municipalities in the state of NJ which have the name “Washington Township”. The Morris County Washington Township was incorporated as a township in 1798 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. Its name is after George Washington, America’s first president. Washington Township borders the Morris County towns of Chester and Mount Olive. It also borders the Hunterdon County towns of Tewksbury and Lebanon, Warren County towns of Mansfield and Hackettstown, and the Somerset County town of Bedminster.
