Wharton is a borough located in Morris County, New Jersey. According to the 2018 census, the township’s population is estimated to be around 6,457 people. Wharton was originally incorporated as the borough of Port Oram in 1895. The name was changed to Wharton in 1912 based on a referendum. Wharton is named for Joseph Wharton of the Wharton Steel Company. The borough borders on the Morris County municipalities of Dover, Jefferson, Mine Hill, Rockaway Township and Roxbury.
